Great National Ballykisteen Hotel
This fantastic Swiss Cottage was built around 1810 and is a pristine example of cottage orné, or ornamental cottage. It was originally part of the estate of Lord and Lady Cahir, and used for functions and entertaining guests.
It is thought that the cottage was designed by the architect John Nash, famous for designing many Regency buildings. Its interior hosts a graceful spiral staircase and some elegantly furnished rooms. The wallpaper in the Salon, created by the Dufour factory, is one of the first commercially produced Parisian wallpapers.
