The Glen of Aherlow Winter Walking Festival is a two-day event which takes place every January with walks through the Galtee Mountains and Slievenamuck Hills led by experienced guides from the Galtee Walking Club.
Experience the highs of the Galtees in winter on Galtymore, Cush and Greenan, glorious lake walks to Curra or Muskry or low level walks on Slievenamuck. Three to four graded walks will feature each day with bus transfers to and from the base at Aherlow House Hotel.
The festival guarantees a safe, memorable and enjoyable experience in the Glen of Aherlow.
A grade walks
Are for very experienced walkers and will involve steep climbs and a fast pace for a considerable length of time.
B grade walks
Are also for experienced walkers but will be of shorter duration, perhaps 5 hours, and at a more moderate pace but will also involve some climbing.
C grade walks
Will be mostly on forest tracks with some minor climbs and will last for approximately 3 hours and cover a distance of 10 to 12 km. They can be done by anyone with a moderate level of fitness.
